Revisiting the blog, a year later

Okay, so originally I was trying to make this a blog about LOST, the TV show, putting up screenshot and trying to decipher the coded and hidden messages and stuff. WAAAY too time-consuming. Plus, I no longer have a television and I'm a student again, so no real time to watch lost online and do all that screen-capture stuff to analyze and post on this blog. So, instead, I will post some of the other stuff I waste my time with these day, namely posting funny pictures I find on the internet, or ones that I make myself that I don't want to bother submitting to funny picture sites cuz they take too damned long to appear, or don't appear at all. Mind you these are not quality pics, but if you are in the mindset of looking at some funny stuff, you might get a chuckle or two from this stuff and move on with your life a little happier. Plus if the order or organization of this thing bothers you, sorry but I'm too lazy to fix the order and stuff every time Blogger.com decides what it wants to do with the pictures I upload, all by itself.

Protein Laminin God Cross Glue Sticky Caduceus

So I get this email from a friend that has a picture of the protein Laminin in it.

Laminins are a huge family of proteins, made of 3 separate protein parts that come together (called a "heterotrimer") that help cells of animals stick together and bind tissues together.

Laminin proteins are called "Cell Adhesion Molecules" (aka CAM's) or integrins, because they hold cells together by sticking on the outside of cells and binding other proteins on other cells so things don't just drift apart.

The point of my friend's email was that Laminin (not very specific about which specific laminin we were talking about here) forms the shape of a cross, like that of Christianity and the crucifix of Jesus of Nazareth. That is how it is portrayed in the image, anyway, which is really a schematic of the protein parts.

I looked at the picture and looked laminin up on the web and found a slurry of Chrsitians associating the laminin protein (and its schematic image) with the cross and slapping it on t-shirts, hats and other tourist-like souvenirs and calling it the "God Protein".

Looking again at the image of laminin, I thought it really did not look like a cross, but rather like some OTHER religious iconography I had seen. Follow the pictures below to see if you understand what I mean...

I think you can see from the scientific images that laminin looks more like a "peace sign" than a Christian cross.
